Washington County Positively Impacted By Upcoming Inauguration

Lodging for Washington County is booked solid around the January 20, 2009, presidential inauguration. The 2,400 motel, hotel, and bed-and-breakfast rooms in the county filled quickly. Nearly every room is taken from January 17 through the 20, despite the fact that Washington, D.C. is an hour and a half away. The CVB expects high numbers of visitors to the area, bringing tourism dollars with them.
Prime Outlets is offering special coupon books from January 17-24 for visitors to the area. To obtain a free coupon book worth hundreds of dollars in savings, a guest must present a room key from any Maryland hotel at Prime Outlets Guest Services.
Special guided walking tours of downtown Hagerstown will be offered January 16-22. The 90-minute guided tours will begin at 1 p.m. from the Visitor Welcome Center. The tours focus on the exciting history and architecture of Hagerstown over the past 200+ years. Tours cost $7 or adults and $5 for children. Reservations are requested and special dates and times may be arranged for groups. Reservations are being taken at 410-268-3706.
