Spence Perry receives MASSB Board Member of the Year Award

Spence Perry was honored by the Maryland Association of Social Services Boards as Board Member of the Year at the organization's annual meeting at Solomons Island, Maryland on September 18. Mr. Perry received his award at the Washington County Department of Social Services' annual luncheon with the Washington County Commissioners on December 9.
Mr. Perry was nominated for the award as a result of his many contributions during twelve years on the Washington County Board of Social Services. Among his accomplishments were institution of the County's Generous Jurors program, initiation of an interagency effort to address the County's teen pregnancy rate, and the planning for Safe Place, the County's child advocacy center. Mr. Perry served as Social Services' Board Chair in 1999 and 2000 and held membership on the Board's Executive Committee for seven years.
The Washington County Department of Social Services is a field office of the Maryland Department of Human Resources under the direction of Governor Martin O'Malley, Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown, and Secretary Brenda Donald.
