Christmas is for others!

Employees of the Housing Authority of Washington County gathered around the Christmas tree this afternoon as they presented Major Lyles of the Salvation Army with a facsimile check representing the $564 they collected during the past year. Each Friday Authority employees are allowed to dress-down in exchange for a donation to the Casual Day fund. This year County Housing Authority staff voted unanimously to send the proceeds to the Salvation Army to fill Christmas stockings.
The Washington County Housing Authority manages 292 rental units including the elderly developments at Blue Mountain Estates in Smithsburg, Schoolhouse Manor in Boonsboro, Francis Murphy Senior Apartments off Robinwood Drive, Parkview Knoll and Springfield Manor in Williamsport and Monterey House in Hancock. The Authority also administers the Section 8 program that provides rental assistance to 500 families within the County but outside the City of Hagerstown.
