Eastern Boulevard Traffic Advisory

Eastern Boulevard Traffic Advisory

Hagerstown, MD (December 3, 2008)- The work to widen Eastern Boulevard is nearing completion. However, due to unfavorable temperatures, the final surface paving will likely not be completed until spring. The following schedule will be followed (weather permitting):
* Monday, December 1st: The new signal at Opal Court was placed on "flash" but the turning lanes associated with the signal remained closed until approximately December 10th.
* Over the next week, the contractor did additional paving as needed around manholes, valves, etc. to smooth out the travel lanes, and will install base paving on Conrad Court to fill in some low areas.
* All were signs installed last week.
* On Wednesday December 10th, the Opal Court signal were placed and are in full operation, and the turning lanes into and out of Opal Court will be opened.
When warmer weather returns, the contractor will be able to complete the final surface paving, final pavement markings, and additional pavement repairs required between Conrad Court and the Dual Highway. Motorists should be aware that, until the final surface paving is completed, the riding surface on this section of Eastern Boulevard will be a bit rougher than the final product.
