Snow Removal Program

Hagerstown, MD (November 25, 2008)- In anticipation of the season's inclement weather, the City of Hagerstown is once again offering a Snow Removal Program for eligible residents. This assistance is designed to maintain clear public walkways as required by Code. The City assists with the exchange of contact information matching willing volunteers with individuals in need.
"We know that some homeowners have difficulty clearing their public sidewalks after a snowfall. This program is designed to aid homeowners who have no resources available to them," states Cindy Blackstock, Community Development Coordinator.
To be considered eligible for this program the following criteria must be met:
* Be the actual property owner
* Have a physical or medical condition, which prohibits activity of this nature
* Be financially unable to pay for this service
* Have no additional resources that could assist such as family, neighbors or friends
Volunteers are also being sought to lend assistance to this program. Registration for residents seeking assistance must be made by December 19, 2008. Applications are available by contacting 301-739-8577 x191.
