Suns' Carol Gehr Named Minor League Female Executive of the Year

Hagerstown, MD- Longtime Suns employee Carol Gehr has been awarded the Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year by Minor League Baseball.
Entering her 25th season with the team, Gehr has seen the Suns play in three different leagues with players from five Major League affiliates. She has also weathered the upheaval of changes in ownership.
"The Suns office would never be functional without Carol," said Joel Pagliaro, the Suns Director of Marketing. "She is the one we all turn to whenever we have questions."
Gehr will be presented with the award at the Annual Baseball Winter Meetings, taking place in Las Vegas, NV in December.
"I have so many people and co-workers to thank for nominating me," said Gehr. "It will be great to see colleagues I have worked with over the years at the Winter Meetings."
Winning the award caught Gehr off guard, as members of the Suns staff, with full knowledge that she had been selected, conspired to set up a conference call with team ownership under a false pretense. It was then that Gehr was told she would be travelling to Las Vegas to accept the award.
"I'm still in a whirlwind, after receiving the news," said Gehr. "It wasn't until I went home that evening it sunk in what the award entails: it is not just for my hometown or the state of Maryland but for the whole United States."
Gehr, the Suns Director of Business Operations, was named the Female Executive of the Year for South Atlantic League for 2008, prompting her nomination for the national award.
