Wisdom From a Furry Friend: Jetta, the Husky/Shepherd Mix
Wisdom From a Furry Friend
Jetta, the Husky/Shepherd Mix
Hello. My name is Jetta and I'm a Husky/Shepherd mix about 4 years old. I have taken up temporary housing at the Humane Society of Washington County. I was dropped off here one night not long ago so they don't know much about me. Everyone here says I'm very handsome. I have a soft dark coat with lighter coloring on my chin and belly and I have two different colored eyes. Isn't that neat?
I love to take long walks and I really like having my belly rubbed. I am very sweet and I love people and little folks alike so I am good with children of all ages! I would really like to meet a nice family that I could grow old with and love. I would benefit from some good manners training, so I could be a lot of fun to take to classes and learn about obedience.
You know, this is the time of year when people are looking for pets. Did you know that shelters have some of the best pets? I am unsure why my family decided to give me up but I am really excited about the possibility of going to a new family. I always look when I hear the door open and hope that my new family will be coming to get me and take me home with them. So, if you hear someone saying they are going to go to a pet store to find a pet for the holiday please tell them to come to the shelter first. We all want good homes and we are waiting for you and your love to make us feel special again. And we will love you unconditionally forever.
And you know what else? When we go home with you, you can feel really good that you helped give us a second chance at life. We are all good boys and girls because our behavior has been assessed to make sure we are well behaved. That means we should fit in really well. We have had shots and kennel cough preventative and we have had our ears cleaned and a flea and tick treatment. AND, we are spayed or neutered so you don't have to worry about the expense of having the surgery done because it is already taken care of. You even get a month of pet insurance free when you take one of us home plus we are microchipped so if we ever get lost we can find our way back to you. Now that is neat.
This year the Humane Society of Washington County is working with the Iams Company, the Helen Woodward Animal Center in CA, 15 countries around the world and teachers and students at the Washington County Public Schools to bring awareness of the wonderful shelter pets that are available for adoption. We hope to find homes for 1 million shelter pets worldwide this holiday season. It is an adoption campaign called Home 4 the Holidays and we are very excited to be a part of this international adoption appeal. You can help by coming to the Humane Society of Washington County and taking home your favorite cuddly companion this holiday.
And when you come here, be sure to stop by and see me. I might be just what you are looking for! Happy Holidays!
