(Hagerstown, MD)- The City of Hagerstown and the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau have scheduled an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Academy Theater Banquet and Conference center at 58 East Washington Street (in the former Tusing Warehouse). The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is set for November 18th at noon.
City of Hagerstown Mayor Robert E. Bruchey, II will be participating in the ceremony, along with business and community leaders, representatives from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development - Division of Neighborhood Revitalization, and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development.
Following a ribbon cutting ceremony with co-owners Milton Stamper and Mike Guessford, a light lunch will be served. Please RSVP to: theacademy@myactv.net or call 301-797-5755.
The new Academy Theater Banquet and Conference Center includes 30,000-square-feet of theater and banquet space. The professional theater facility seats 208 people on the first floor, and is the new home of a community theater group, the non-profit Potomac Playmakers. The new Academy Theatre is a "perfect venue for the Playmakers and will be welcomed by theater-goers," said Ruth Ridenour, the Potomac Playmakers president. "This is a terrific addition to the Arts and Entertainment District in Hagerstown."
