Hours change for C&O Canal Visitor Centers, Canal Boats

C&O Canal National Historical Park has announced changes to the hours for three park visitor centers and the end of the season for the canal boats Georgetown and the Charles F. Mercer.
The Hancock Visitor Center, located at 326 East Main Street in Hancock, Maryland closed for the season on October 26, 2008. This visitor center will reopen in late May 2009. For more information call 301-582-0813.
The Georgetown Visitor Center located at 1057 Thomas Jefferson Street in Georgetown, Washington DC, closed for the winter season on November 3, 2008. The canal boat Georgetown will also cease operation at that time.

The Charles F. Mercer, located at Great Falls, Maryland ceased operation for the winter on November 3, 2008. The Mercer will begin operating for the 2009 season in April 2009. The Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center located at 11710 MacArthur Boulevard near Potomac, Maryland remains open from 9am to 4:30pm daily except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. The Williamsport Visitor Center will be open from Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 4:30pm. The National Canal Museum exhibit has left for the winter, but will return in April 2009. For more information call 301-582-0813.
The Cumberland Visitor Center remains open to the public daily from 9am to 5pm. The Brunswick Visitor Center, located in the Brunswick Museum, remains open Friday from 10am to 2pm, Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and Sunday from noon to 4pm.
