Nationally acclaimed Fernando Ortega, Dove Music Award winner will appear in a benefit concert at the Capitol Theatre, 159 South Main Street, Chambersburg, PA, Saturday, November 8 at 7:30pm. Mr. Ortega is an extraordinary artist and will be accompanied by a cellist that evening. He will play the beautiful grand piano at the Capitol featuring his Christian vocal music. Fernando Ortega is an adult contemporary singer-songwriter in contemporary Christian music. He is noted for his interpretations of traditional hymns and songs, such as "Give Me Jesus", "Be Thou My Vision", and many others, but also for writing clear and accessible songs, such as "This Good Day".
This concert is being hosted by The Fielder Send-Off committee of St. John's UCC. On November 30, Dr. Jon and Amanda (Martzluf) Fielder along with their two sons, Matthew and Aaron, will leave the United States for Malawi. Located in southeastern Africa, Malawi is one of the poorest nations of the world (rank 164/177). Life expectancy in Malawi is 41 years. Dr. Fielder and Amanda are making a four year commitment to serve the medical needs of the people of Malawi, especially HIV/AIDS related diseases.
