Violators Sought for Park Vandalism

The National Park Service is seeking information regarding vandalism, theft, and a fire that occurred on September 19, 2008 at Locks 74 and 75 within the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park located off of PPG Road near Cumberland, Maryland. Vandals broke into the historic lockhouse, caused extensive damage to the building, stole artifacts, and set a portable toilet located in the parking lot on fire. Park Rangers have increased patrols in this and nearby areas to prevent further vandalism.
Any persons with information regarding this crime or with information about any persons or activities involved in this act are asked to call the National Park Service. A reward is being offered to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators.
