Local Audubon Society Offering Free Concerts

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will again offer a series of free outdoor concerts during August and September at its Yankauer Nature Preserve north of Shepherdstown.
The Society's Fifth Annual "Music in the Cedars" concerts will be held from 6:30 to 7:30pm each Tuesday evening in August and the first four Tuesday evenings in September. The concerts will be held rain or shine in the Preserve's covered pavilion.
The schedule of performers will be as follows:
August 5, Satch Alwin (local singer and songwriter performing a collection of his own and well-known songs.); August 12, Grigorio Lacerda and Friends (Brazilian guitar player and vocalist performing popular and Brazilian songs with friends); August 19, Terry Tucker and Ardyth Gilbertson (originals and folks songs with keyboard, percussion and autoharp-great harmonies and opportunities to sing along); August 26, The Reasons Why (Sam Felker, Greg Lloyd, Scott & Betty Jo Rockwell-an engaging group performing acoustic rock and originals).
September 2, The Outpatients (newgrass and rhythm/blues band featuring Steve Cifala, Jamie Daly, and Rob Receveur); September 9, the Rolling Coyotes (a blend of country-tinged folk with diverse instrumentation and vocals describing unique places, characters and themes); September 16, The Dilettantes (well-known acoustic folk songs performed with voice and guitar by Jeff and Trudy Roth); September 23, Daryl Bryarly (Folk, Civil War and Celtic favorites and originals performed on Hammered Dulcimer).
Directions to the nature preserve are posted on the PVAS website at www.potomacaudubon.org.
Those who attend the concerts are welcome to bring their own picnic suppers, but the preserve does not have trash pickup so audience members are asked to carry out everything they bring in.
Picnic tables will be available in the pavilion on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees may also bring picnic blankets or chairs for their comfort. Please leave pets at home.
The Yankauer Nature Preserve is owned by The Nature Conservancy and managed locally by the Potomac Valley Audubon Society.
