C&O Canal Invites Public to Comment on Proposed Project - Evitts Creek Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Upgrades, Cumberland, Maryland

Hagerstown, MD- The National Park Service (NPS) has received a request from the City of Cumberland to implement upgrades to their combined sewer overflow lines between the Evitts Creek pump station and the City's Waste Water Treatment Plant. Proposed upgrades involve construction on National Park Service property between mile 181 and 182 of the park. The project would also establish a right-of-way to govern new and existing sewer lines within the park.
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the NPS invites public scoping comments regarding this project. Comments received will be used to develop and guide the environmental evaluation for the project. The National Park Service will now be accepting written comments through July 14, 2008.
