CVB Announces New Destination Planning Guide; Publication Targets Groups and Conventions

(Hagerstown, MD)- The Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau has produced a new Destination Planning Guide (DPG). The guide is a must-have resource for meeting planners and tour operators considering Washington County for their next group gathering.
The Destination Planning Guide includes basic information and maps of Washington County, in addition to listings of all the attractions, recreational opportunities, and a shopping and dining guide. What sets the DPG apart from the CVB's annual Visitor Guide is the section devoted to meeting sites and accommodations. Statistics on meetings sites and accommodations are provided such as the square footage, the seating capacity, and number of breakout rooms.
"The Destination Planning Guide is essential for helping attract meetings, conventions, and group visits to Washington County," said CVB Director of Sales, Betsy De Vore. "This publication goes with us to the nearly two dozen trade shows we will attend this year, and this will get into the hands of every meeting planner we come into contact." Thousands of the DPG's are being mailed to groups, convention planners, and associations.
The CVB has provided sample itineraries in the Destination Planning Guide, along with convention and meeting services, and group tour services. The CVB frequently provides welcome banners, name badges, registration assistance, hospitality packets, and press releases for meeting and convention groups that come to Washington County.
The glossy 47 page guide features a cover photo of Downtown Hagerstown's square, along with photos of Antietam, the Maryland Theatre, Prime Outlets, and Black Rock Golf Course. Tom Riford, President and CEO of the Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased with the way the Destination Planning Guide was designed. "It truly is a high-quality guide," said Riford, "The Board of Directors of the CVB, and our local lodging members agree that this Destination Planning Guide is the best ever."
The last time the guide was produced was in 2006. The 2008 Destination Planning guide was designed by pm2studios of Hagerstown and printed by CVB member Mercersburg Printing.
