Jellystone Park in Hagerstown Wins Award for Excellence in Camping Industry

Hagerstown, MD (May 22, 2008)- The Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Hagerstown has been recognized with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Jellystone Park franchise system. The award is given to the Camp-Resort that showed the strongest growth in business over the prior year. It was presented at the annual meeting of the Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort group in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Hagerstown Camp-Resort is located in an area rich with history and the natural beauty of western Maryland's scenic foothills. The park has become a major recreation destination in the area and boasts considerable additions such as two new waterslides, a spray pool, playground, mining sleuce, additional campsites and full-service cabins.
"We take a lot of pride in our park and put special emphasis on customer satisfaction," said Ron Vitkun, owner of the Hagerstown Camp-Resort. "I'm so proud of our staff for their commitment to quality and for helping to earn our park this recognition. With this tremendous team, I look forward to celebrating many more successes."
The park's recreation director keeps visitors busy every weekend with planned activities and special events. A sample of special events includes Survivor Weekend, Battle of the Sexes Weekend, Chili Cook-off/Football Weekend and Junior Ranger Weekend. The park even hosts a Christmas in July event complete with ice skating, a site-decorating contest and visits with Santa.
Like to compete? "Game on" at this Jellystone Park. The facility recently acquired the technology to host outdoor laser tag competitions. A new pedal cart track pits campers against each other in the Cindy 500 race. Guitar Hero, Dance, Dance Revolution and Wii competitions are lively, with campers of all ages striving to be crowned champion. The Camp-Resort also has the more traditional games being played at the horseshoe pits, lit basketball court and sand volleyball court.
The Hagerstown Jellystone Park Camp-Resort is open year-round with weekend planned activities through November.
