Teen Raises Money, Buys Sheet Sets for San Mar Children's Home

Lauren Barber (left), of Boonsboro, is a 14-year-old with a big heart. As part of her confirmation project at Benevola United Methodist church in Boonsboro, Lauren raised nearly $300 to buy 21 sheet sets, which she presented this week to San Mar CEO Bruce Anderson (right). "Lauren's act of generosity is very impressive," said Anderson. "Seldom do you see a girl at that age reaching beyond herself in that manner. She is a great example to all around her." Lauren, daughter of Rebecca Marshall, of 19200 Betty's Avenue, Boonsboro, is an 8th grader at Boonsboro Middle School. Lauren raised most of the money through a yard sale. San Mar Children's Home, near Boonsboro, operates four group home programs for adolescent girls and a treatment foster care program for girls and boys.
