Dogs make wonderful pets, but many people don't realize the responsibility involved in caring for them. It involves more than just giving them a home and feeding them. Author Thelma Smith Krone draws awareness to the responsibility of owning a pet in her book, "Sadie".
Written in the point of view of Sadie, Sadie describes the family she once knew and loved until the day they decided to take her for a drive. They left her on the side of a road. She was alone, afraid, sad, and hungry. Sadie waits for her family to return, but they never do. However, fortunately someone else does and Sadie gets a second chance at having a loving home and a family who loves her.
This heartwarming story with black and white illustrations by Gregory Snader, brilliant draws the attention to the awareness of animal abandonment. As a huge supporter of Humane Society's, this reviewer found Krone's story to be inspirational and positive. Before getting a pet, research, research, research. You and your new pet will benefit the rewards of your doing so.
Children of all ages will enjoy this touching story with a happy ending.
Thelma's story is easy to read and simple in it's writing, but comes with an enormous message.
