GALA 2008 Set for May 21st at Discovery Station, New C&O Canal Exhibit Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting

(Hagerstown, MD)- Invitations have been mailed announcing the Discovery Station GALA 2008. The event will be held at Discovery Station on Wednesday, May 21st from 5:30 to 8:30pm.
The special event includes elegant hors d'oeuvres, complimentary beverages, a silent and a live auction, and much more! All proceeds are to help the Discovery Station, a 501(c)3 non-profit, hands-on, family-friendly, science center museum.
The event will include the official unveiling, and grand opening ribbon cutting of the new permanent C&O Canal Exhibit. With grant funding from the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area, and primary funding from the Washington County Gaming Commission, the new exhibit celebrates and explains the C&O Canal and its significance on local history. Representatives from the C&O Canal National Historical Park, who assisted with the exhibit, will be on hand at the ribbon cutting.
The new exhibit features interactive displays, memorabilia, photos, models, and other displays. The new C&O Canal Exhibit also features some never-before seen historical items, and also a movie filmed by Thomas Edison that has been digitally restored for this exhibit.

Discovery Station at Hagerstown, Inc. promotes informal learning about science, technology and local history through exhibits and programs that are both educational and entertaining. The primary audiences include individuals, families and school groups from around the region, as well as visitors to Hagerstown and Washington County.
