It's Used Book Sale Time
45th Spring Used Book Sale

The Hagerstown Branch of AAUW (The American Association of University Women) will host their 45th Spring Used Book Sale beginning Wednesday, April 23 through Sunday, April 27th. Held at the Agricultural Center off the Sharpsburg Pike, the sale offers books, CDs, videos, and audio tapes in all categories including current and choice fiction, historical novels, romance, reference, cookbooks, children's, travel, hobbies, sports, westerns, health, women, military, childcare/family, mysteries, environmental, religion, old, rare, and collectables some of which are offered as "silent bids," and hundreds of paperbacks.
The sale will open Wednesday, April 23 at 10am. Thursday, the 24th and Friday the 25h the sale continues from 10am-8pm. Saturday's hours are 10-am-5pm with all books selling at half price, and Sunday Bag Day will be offered from 12-3pm. You can fill a bag with books for $5 or purchase 5 bags for $20. This year we would like all the books to be sold.
AAUW has been producing this Used Book Sale for 44 years. Books donated by the community are sorted, priced, and boxed in a room in the downstairs stacks of the Central Library. Members of AAUW known as "moles" spend many hours preparing for the sale. The Library gives the group their withdrawn books, which are also processed and boxed. Once the room is full of boxes, volunteers from the Boonsboro Fire Company transport the boxes of books to trailers at Bowman's Trucking. AAUW is very appreciative of all the assistance the community contributes in assisting us to produce the sale. Moving the books from the trailers, setting up the tables at the Ag Center, and displaying the categories is another big undertaking, which takes the entire membership of AAUW, volunteers from members of "Friends of the Library", persons from MCTC, and high school students completing their community hours.
Do save these dates and come browse through the tables of books. Bring your family and friends. Proceeds benefit 10-15 local scholarships, educational programs at the Library, the Boonsboro Fire Association, and AAUW State Fellowships, which provides funds for adults to peruse advanced degrees.
