Central Office Entrance Changes and Sign-In Procedures

Hagerstown, MD (October 26, 2007)- As renovations continue on the lobby area of the Washington County Public Schools' Central Office, visitors must enter the building at the Planetarium entrance until work on the main lobby is complete. A receptionist is located in the lobby inside the Planetarium entrance during this time and is following updated procedures for welcoming visitors, including employees from other locations in the system, to the Central Office. The procedures include the following:
* All visitors will be required to sign in at the receptionist's desk.
* Visiting employees with a WCPS badge will be permitted to enter after signing in.
* All other visitors, including citizens, prospective employees, and WCPS employees without a badge, will also have to sign in, but will be required to have an escort to his or her destination. Once the destination has been identified, the receptionist will call the respective department for an escort.
* Individuals delivering supplies or packages will have to sign in and show identification.
* Central Office employees have been requested to inform the receptionist of scheduled meetings and training sessions, and to urge participants in those meetings to arrive a few minutes early to avoid delays.
Once renovations to the main lobby are complete, the receptionist will be located there to sign in visitors and provide information. The changes were made to enhance security and streamline the process of visitors gaining access to information and locations within the WCPS Central Office.
