Passion For Pink: Strive To Make A Difference
"Passion For Pink: Strive To Make A Difference"
(Hagerstown, MD, September 28, 2007)- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Valley Mall, in partnership with Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley, will bring breast cancer experts and the women of the Hagerstown area closer together, as well as raise funds for and awareness of breast cancer, the importance of early detection, and treatment options.
Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley encourage all to register for their "Step N Stride" walk that will take place October 20 at Hagerstown Community College. Breast cancer-related brochures are available at Customer Service in the mall.
"Passion For Pink: Strive To Make a Difference is the name we have given to the program that is bringing our shoppers and Hagerstown breast cancer experts together. We believe this is a very important and beneficial program for all women in the Hagerstown area," said Brian Kaltenbaugh, marketing director of Valley Mall. "As a center where many people in the community congregate to shop, enjoy leisure time, or just catch up with friends, we believe we offer these experts one of the most effective ways to reach out and share their message that may serve to change the lives of large numbers of women while helping to save others."
Valley Mall will conduct a month-long fund raiser that will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley. Shoppers are encouraged to participate by making deposits in the mall's fountain and in collection cans found at participating retailers.
Throughout October, purchases made at the mall acquire more meaning. When shoppers at Valley Mall accumulate $75 dollars or more in mall store receipts, they can have their choice of a pink and white tote bag or a pink umbrella. Those who wish to receive the tote bag or the umbrella are asked to bring their receipts to Customer Service and make a $5 donation. All donations for the tote bag and the umbrella will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley.
Valley Mall also has included a Passion For Pink: Strive To Make A Difference "Web button" on its home page, www.shopthevalleymall.com, that connects people who want to know more about breast cancer with Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley.
As an additional show of support for Passion For Pink: Strive To Make A Difference and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, pink pins will be worn throughout the month by employees of mall management, SMS maintenance and housekeeping, and Allied-Barton security.
Valley Mall has joined 10 other malls in the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust's (PREIT), owner of Valley Mall, Southern Region to inaugurate Passion For Pink: Strive To Make a Difference, a program designed to broaden awareness of and raise funds for breast cancer, the importance of early detection, treatment options, and survivability.
