Williamsport High Named Demonstration School for Outstanding Phys Ed Programming

Williamsport High School was recently named a Maryland Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (MAHPERD) Demonstration School for outstanding programming in physical education. A team of Association representatives evaluated the school's phys ed classes, instruction, facilities, lesson planning, and equipment.
The evaluation reflected high marks for the wellness-based aspects of the program, focusing on personal fitness. Also noted was the unique lesson activities staff created for students. Students in the program also wear heart rate monitors in order to track target rates during classes.
Physical Education Department Chair Jackie Row says, "The staff and students are outstanding in working together to use the curriculum to improve personal health and fitness. It's wonderful to be recognized for our efforts."
