County Commuter Sells Ads

Businesses wishing to place advertisements on "rolling billboards" may now contact the Washington County Public Transportation Department-County Commuter direct to initiate the service.
Transportation Director Kevin Cerrone said that ads may be placed on the exterior of 14 County Commuter vehicles. An information packet has been developed to guide potential advertisers in placing ads, and is available by calling County Commuter.
County Commuter has been the method of mass transit for Washington County citizens for 34 years. The 14 vehicles provide over 40 spaces for ads of various sizes. The buses operate 307 days each year, providing 350,000 rides.
Buses run on major traffic arteries connecting Hagerstown, Williamsport, Smithsburg, Maugansville and Funkstown, with the majority of routes in the high-density population area.
Cerrone says thousands of consumers have the opportunity to view the ads each day at a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising. Businesses advertising on buses also show dedication to improvement of the quality of life in the County because buses produce less pollution.
A list of 8 local bus sign vendors is included in the information packet, Cerrone said. Ads may be placed for either 3, 6, or 12-month periods.
Businesses and organizations wishing to take advantage of these services should call the Public Transportation Department-County Commuter department at 240-313-2750.
