Courthouse Accessibility Renovations Completed

The Washington County Engineering Department has announced that the temporary ramp at the front entrance of the County Courthouse will be removed, and that the entrance at 24 Summit Avenue is again the disabilities-accessible entrance to the Courthouse and Courthouse Annex. Demolition of the ramp should begin the week of April 9th.
As part of a comprehensive renovation project, the Summit Avenue entrance has been reconfigured, and a new ADA compliant elevator servicing the Old Courthouse and the Annex have improved accessibility to both buildings. The elevator connects all floors of the Annex and the Courthouse buildings, replacing a smaller elevator car in the Courthouse proper.
The Summit Avenue entrance has served as the official Accessible Entrance for the two buildings in accordance with federal disability guidelines. In addition to the elevator a new ramp and doors at the entrance improve accessibility.
