Special Magic Show at Maryland Theatre Benefits "Safe Place of Washinton County"
Friends of Safe Place, Washington County's child Advocacy Center will present its 1st annual Evening of Comedy & Magic featuring nationally-recognized and award-winning magicians at 7pm Friday, March 16 at the Maryland Theatre.
Proceeds from the show support safe place Washington County's Child Advocacy Center. The Center provides comprehensive services to children who have been physically or sexually abused. The Center and its partnering agencies provide these services collaboratively in one location in an effort to minimize the trauma these children experience.
The evening's acts are Antje Pode, Ron Geoffries, Tony Chapek, Jay Sterling, and Lynn Trefzger.
Germany's Antje Pode is one of the stars of European Variety Theater. She and her performances have been described as "A breath-taking show, the height of an evening variety", "The Queen of the Air, a true Cirque D'Soleil style artist" and "Gravity takes a vacation as you watch the open-mouthed awe". Combining the skills of a juggler with the artistry of a high wire act, she provides entertainment for all.
From nearby New Jersey, Ron Geoffries is welcomed to the line-up. Ron, known as The Magic Comedian, works everywhere the best in magic and comedy are needed, from cruise ships to corporate shows. Ron combines a wide variety of magic techniques with a brand of comedy that delights both young and old. He has he audience roaring with laughter one moment while amazing them with great magic the next.
Tony Chapek has one of the most unique acts ever in the history of magic and entertainment. Long before the "You Tube" craze came along, Tony Chapek put together a truly amazing act utilizing interactive media magic. This act has won first place awards at the annual conventions of the Society of American Magicians and International Brotherhood of Magicians and at the Las Vegas Magic Desert seminar. This terrific act has won awards for magic originality.
Jay Sterling makes use of art, science, and illusion to bend the rules of reality. A native of Lancaster, PA, he is a three-time international award winner and has presented his act, "Figment," around the globe. Jay has appeared on numerous television specials and has been a featured act on five continents. The audience is urged to "Try not to blink, as he distorts size, shape and dimension and has you questioning what you see."
The comedy ventriloquism of Lynn Trefzger is also being welcomed to the show. Her achievements and awards include: Most Deserving Young Ventriloquist; 1st place, International Ventriloquist Convention; Comedy Entertainer of the Year; Variety Entertainer of the Year; and Ventriloquist of the Year. Lynn has performed for hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. She has performed at more than 5,000 colleges, many major corporations, on TV's Star Search, A&E Comedy on the Road, The Statler Brothers Show, ABC's America's Super Showcase, and more.
