National Park Service Invites Public: Comment on the proposed Eelway Passages
National Park Service Invites Public:
Comment on the proposed Eelway Passages
The National Park Service and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service are exploring options for constructing eelway passages on the Potomac River at historic Dams 4 & 5. These passages would enhance the migration of the American Eel and open up 120 miles of river habitat that is critical for the American Eel's life cycle.
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Park Service invites public scoping comments regarding this project. Comments received will be used to develop and guide the environmental evaluation for the project. The public will be able to comment on the proposed project beginning January 8, 2007 through February 10, 2007. A public scoping meeting will be held on January 17, 2007 at the Williamsport Community Building, located in Byron Memorial Park, Williamsport, MD. The meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30pm. All interested citizens are invited to attend. Project information will be presented at the meeting and project planners will be available to answer questions.
Further information is available at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/choh. Written comments will be accepted and should be submitted through the PEPC website.
