Homes for the Holidays: Giving Animals a Second Chance

Giving Animals a Second Chance
The Humane Society of Washington County has initiated a campaign titled "Homes for the Holidays" in an effort to stimulate the adoption of shelter animals this holiday season.
"At this time of the year so many people go to pet stores instead of looking a their local shelter to find their family pet," says Executive Director Paul Miller. "We want those individuals to be aware that the Humane Society has numerous wonderful animals in need of good homes. What better gift to give at the holidays than to give a shelter animal a second chance at a lifelong loving home?"
The Humane Society of Washington County's vision is to be the area's leading resource for animal related issues. Through strong community partnerships, they enhance and protect the lives of all animals by advocating responsible, compassionate relationships between people and animals while providing shelter, humane education, spay/neuter programs, and adoptions.
"Currently we receive about 5,000 animals a year with about 80% being homeless, injured, or abandoned," Miller said.
$75 for cats and $100 for dogs, except during the month of December the shelter will be having a 2 for 1 special. Adopt a cat and take another cat along for your new cat. Both cats will be adopted for the fee of just one cat.
