Washington County Public Schools' New Security Manager

Steven L. Ganley, a Smithsburg resident and law enforcement veteran, is the new safety and security specialist/risk manager for all Washington County Public Schools.
Ganley brings with him nearly 25 years of experience in the field, winning commendations for achievements in the areas of safety, response, and crime prevention. He served in the office of superintendent/internal affairs unit and the special tactical assault team, and trooper for the Maryland State Police. Additionally, he has served as a criminal investigation supervisor/administrator with the Maryland State Police since 2001.
E. Paul Rudolph, former security specialist, left the position in May. The job has been vacant until now.
Ganley will be responsible for working with senior staff to develop safety and security procedures for the school system.
Ganley plans to reach out to his contacts in law enforcement for additional ideas on securing the county's schools. He will also review existing policies and procedures. He is expected to begin working for the school system full-time on November 1.
