Wisdom From a Furry Friend: Jasper
Wisdom From a Furry Friend
Purrrrrrr. As I sit and watch people walk by my little home I twitch my whiskers and stretch my legs. People stop and look at me because I am very pretty but they don't take me with them when they leave. I don't understand why they don't want to take me with them.
My name is Jasper and the nice people at the Humane Society of Washington County say I am around 3 years old. It is difficult for them to know how old I really am because I came here as a stray. It sure is nice to have a warm bed to sleep on rather than being outside in the elements.
You know, when I was outside I worried about getting hurt by a dog, wild animals, another cat or a person who didn't want me on their property. Cars really frightened me because they would go very fast and they could have hurt me very badly. And there are diseases, such as feline leukemia that could have hurt me. And those pesky fleas and ticks were all around. They could have made my life miserable if they had gotten on me. If I had cut myself, it could have become infected and that would have been terrible.
I know that I will live a much longer now that I am an indoor cat. Now I am safe and sound. And when I go to my new home I will have all my shots and I will have a microchip so in case I get outside and get lost the Humane Society will be able to scan the chip and find out where my family lives.
But first I need to find a family. It would be so nice to have a real home where I could curl up and sleep or play and enjoy my new family. There are so many of us cats and dogs at the Humane Society. I have made so many wonderful friends, both cats and dogs, while I have been at the Humane Society. I even met a rabbit that was really cute. We all need homes and a family to love us. If you think you could find a special place in your heart for one of us please come and take us home.
Adoption kennels open at noon Tuesday through Friday and 10am on Saturdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they stay open to 7pm, Wednesday and Friday til 5pm and Saturdays til 4pm. The fee is only $75, which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, identification tag and worming. I know you are out there and I am waiting for my family to come take me home so we can spend some puuurrrrfect autumn nights together.
