e-George new county blog for podcasts

Washington County has entered the world of Internet podcasting with its e-George weblog (Blog).
Headlines and Highlights of Commissioners' meeting summaries and the County's radio program "Commissioners' Comment" are online. Links to the blog are available on the front page of the County website www.washco-md.net, at http://egeorge.blogspot.com. and at www.iTunes.com.
The Public Information Office and Department of Information Technologies are working together to make the information available to a wider audience. New programming is posted each week.
Currently, highlights from the Commissioners' meetings of August 8 and August 22 are available, as well as two of the "Commissioners' Comment" radio programs airing this month. One year ago, that 15-minute radio program began airing on WJEJ 1240 AM in Hagerstown. The program began airing on WICL 95.9 FM, Williamsport-Martinsburg, shortly thereafter. Available programs feature comments by Commissioners' President Greg Snook, Hagerstown Mayor Bob Bruchey, Water Quality Director Greg Murray and Recreation Manager Jaime Dick as well as an in-depth interview with retiring County Sheriff Charles Mades.
Citizens can subscribe to the podcasts and listen via computer, or download for playback on personal listening devices like iPods. Meeting Summaries and news releases are available by subscription as well, all by clicking on the e-George online services link on the County website.
On iTunes the program can be found by browsing in Podcasts under Government and Organizations-Local.
The blog is in line with similar trends by local governments across the U.S. as technology advances in information dissemination have occurred.
