Two commissioners' meetings relocated due to elevator maintenance
by Norman Bassett
Washington County Public Information Officer

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners' meetings have been located in alternate settings, while maintenance is being conducted on the elevator at the County Administration Building.
On Tuesday, July 18, the meeting is being held at the Department of Water Quality Building at 16232 Elliott Parkway, in the Public Meeting Room. Elliott Parkway serves the I-70/81 Industrial Park off Maryland Route 63, Greencastle Pike, between Williamsport and Huyett's Crossroad. Open session is scheduled to begin at 9am. A map of that location and picture of the Water Quality Building can be seen on the County website at
Last Tuesday, July 11, the meeting was held at the County Administration Annex, at 80 West Baltimore Street, Hagerstown, in the conference room. Open Session is scheduled to begin at 9:30am.
July 25 is scheduled as a Commissioners' vacation week.
Meetings are expected to resume in the Commissioners' Meeting Room, on the second floor of the Administration Building, at 100 West Washington Street in Hagerstown on August 1.
The elevator is closed for a 5-week period that began on June 26, for a regular maintenance project, as required by state law. During the remainder of this period, persons who have mobility problems and cannot climb stairs, and who need to receive services from departments located on the second and third floors of the building are being asked to make contact with the department providing the service or the Office on Disability Issues to schedule an appointment in an accessible location.
Those arrangements can be made by contacting the Office on Disability Issues at 240-313-2077 (V/TDD) or in person at the Information Desk in the Mail Room ion the first floor of the Administration Building.
