Gifts of faeries
In Tanya Batt's book, "The Faerie's Gift" a sad and longing woodcutter hopes for change. He has no children, his mother's lost her sight, and they're cold and hungry most of the time. While out in the woods he sees a hawk circling above a small, frightened man. The man turns out to be a little faerie fearing for his life. The woodcutter immediately shoos away the hungry bird, saving the faerie. Grateful, the faerie offers the man one wish. Family needs and personal wants flood his mind. Soon he feels overwhelmed. He has realized that making a wish for ONE thing is not an easy thing to do. Still holding the glowing wish, the woodcutter must make a difficult decision.
Tanya Batt's whimsical text and Nicoletta Ceccoli's vibrant illustrations give the reader an enchanting tale of self-discovery and choices.
