Hager Drive-In is now open
A new drive-in movie theater, which opened on June 9, has opened with a double feature each Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with show times at 8:45p.m. The drive-in will be using an inflatable 50-foot screen, and utilizing the parking lot area behind the Hagerstown 10 Cineplex. Movies will change nightly, and according to drive-in management--the prices are family friendly.
The indoor Hagerstown 10 Cineplex Inc. reopened its doors last month. The updated Leitersburg Pike facility, is being leased and managed by Nancy Davis, CEO, and Alan Ackerman the president of Hagerstown 10 Cineplex, Inc. According to Alan Ackerman, the company is committed to providing quality family entertainment at low affordable prices.
The indoor theater is showing the latest movie releases, and according to Alan Ackerman offering great family pricing, "Our regular ticket prices are $7, with $5 matinees. Prices are discounted for children, seniors, police-fire-rescue personnel, and to members of the military." Drive-in prices are even less, according to Ackerman. "We want families to enjoy coming to the drive-in movie all over again!"
Significant improvements have been made to the theaters, snack bar, and restrooms. The theaters are also upgrading to state-of-the-art digital projection and sound systems. This will allow the Cineplex to offer opportunities not normally associated with movie theaters, such as the showing of classic movies, video gaming events, concerts, and sporting events.
Plans are underway to operate the drive-in from the original 804-car lot, which has been cleared so that it can be restored to a working drive-in theater. Digitally projected movies will be seen on a state-of-the-art outdoor inflatable screen. The drive-in will also be used for car shows, live concerts, and special holiday shows and events. When fully operating, this will be the only drive-in theatre in Washington County.
The new Hagerstown Cineplex will be available for other purposes as well. The theater can be rented out for birthday parties, private viewings, large rooms, baby showers, retirement home showings, and school showings. Once all the digital projectors are in place, a variety of advertising opportunities will be available at a reasonable cost. The Cineplex is employing more than 20 people.
The "Hollywood Cafe" is currently under construction in the lobby and will be open to the public soon. Ackerman said, "We will be offering coffee, tea, soft drinks, fruit smoothies, ice cream, jumbo hot soft pretzels, pizza, sandwiches, nachos, cookies, cakes, pastries, and more! The cafe will also offer wireless Internet, plasma TV's showing upcoming events and movies, music videos, sports, and news."
