Riding the Subway
Published in union with the New York Transit Museum, "My Subway Ride", was written to celebrate the 100th anniversary (October 27, 2004-Subway Centennial) of the New York Subway System.
Husband and wife team, Paul DuBois Jacobs and Jennifer Swender, have put together an dazzling, engaging, busy children's book that captures the sounds, movements, and emotions of the underground subway. Described as blood (the subway) running through tunnel veins in the body (the city), "My Subway Ride" has bouncy text with brilliantly colored illustrations drawn by Selina Alko. The whimsical drawings showcase the culture and people that live within New York City and its subway world--musicians, crowds, lights, sounds, and famous stops.
