Growing up on a Farm
Author, Alan K. Lewis, grew up on a small farm in Orange County, New York. "I Grew Up on a Farm" is Lewis' autobiographical sketch of life on a working farm in Middletown, New York during the 1950s.
What did kids do on a farm? How did they have fun? Lewis uses lively text to bring his memories to life. Bob Fletcher, the illustrator, uses Alan's black and white photographs along with colorful drawings (finishing the unseen areas around the photographs), giving it a scrapbook feel.
"I Grew Up on a Farm" shows a quieter time when the outdoors and nature supplied your entertainment. Children of all ages will surely enjoy Lewis' refreshing picture book.
"I Grew Up on a Farm" would make a wonderful addition to any classroom.
