Board of Education Instrument Bank

Board of Education Instrument Bank

Music makes an incredible difference in the lives of children. There are many students in Washington County that would like to be a part of an instrumental music program, but cannot due to financial restrictions. There are also students who not only would benefit from being a part of such a program, but are in need of this creative outlet.
The Board of Education's goal is to collect donated instruments from the community to be used in the local schools.
What Kind of Instrument?
Here is a list of the most needed instruments, but any instrument in any condition is welcomed.
1. Woodwind- Flute, clarinet, sax
2. Brass- Trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium, tuba
3. String- Violin, viola, cello, bass
4. Percussion
5. Miscellaneous- Other instruments not typically part of performance ensembles for use in general music classrooms. Example: keyboard, guitar
Where to Donate
A community member could donate an instrument to the "MSO/BOE Instrument Donation Bank" by dropping it off at one of the designated drop off points:
* MSO Concerts or MSO Box Office- 13 South Potomac Street Hagerstown
* Washington County Board of Education- Commonwealth Ave. Hagerstown
* Local schools- Office area
Information about the instrument will be taken, and a thank you note is sent to be used for tax purposes. A quick assessment will be made of the instrument and it will be repaired if needed and given as soon as possible to a student in need.
