It's Only Ink!
Monster's in the Furnace

Annabelle Andrews thought she had her eleven-year-old life by the horns. But when she finds out her mother has cancer-she finds that her world is about to change.
If that isn't bad enough, now Annabelle, who is used to getting all As on class projects, has been assigned to work on a project with the class nerd-Leroy Ludlum.
Leroy, however, doesn't intend to do their project on rock jewelry-as Annabelle does-he wants her to join him on investigating the monster who lives in the basement furnace of St. Hedwig Elementary School. Immediately, Annabelle thinks Leroy is crazy. She doesn't want to be associated with him. But when odd things begin to happen, Annabelle starts to wonder if perhaps Leroy is correct about the monster in the basement.
Marianna Heusler has written a terrifically thrilling suspense novel for young adults. Just when you think you have everything figured out...things change...leaving your jaw on the table and your fingers reaching to turn the page.
"Annabelle's Monsters" is a wonderful book for children 10 and up. Heusler's book is spooky, but it's nothing avid advanced readers can't handle.
This reviewer highly recommends Marianna Heusler's young adult book.
