WCPS Schools & Offices Raise More Than $60,000 for Hurricane Relief

Students and staff of Washington County Public Schools, in coordinating a series of fundraising events and strategies since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast region, have raised a total of $62,597.82 to date, with a number of donation drives still in progress, all to benefit hurricane victims.
Schools conducted coin collections, bike-a-thons, challenges and numerous other events to raise money. WCPS Superintendent of Schools Dr. Elizabeth Morgan said, "We are very pleased to go well past a goal we had set to provide help for people, communities, and schools in need. It's a good lesson for all of us, and very satisfying for everyone to come through on behalf of others." As efforts continue, upcoming events that will generate additional relief for hurricane victims include the November 2nd Choral Concert at Boonsboro High School.
