Autumn in Maryland
by Jennifer LB Leese

Each year travelers from across the nation arrive in here just to experience the unmatched beauty of an enchanted Autumn in Maryland. As they make their way into Maryland's borders, they are welcomed by a spectacular display of vibrant fall colors in the rolling hills that flow across the wide-open meadows to the baseline of the speckled mountains.
Maryland's foliage--with its leaves of every diverse shade of reds, yellows, golds, and oranges--is a definite eye-catcher and unforgettable image. The densely-wooded hills and steep mountainsides create a fiery hodgepodge of colors against a cerulean sky--perfect for picture taking.
From Hancock to Hagerstown, travelers will find farmers markets, roadside kiosks, and many mom and pop stops loaded with a rich, ripe abundance of fruits and vegetables. For family fun, try one of our many u-pick orchards or venture into a pumpkin patch. Go on a quest to find the classic apple pie.
With the cool nights and crisp days coming, we recommend you pull on a sweater and enjoy Autumn in Maryland. Wander around our quaint towns and communities or sit on the front porch and take in the smells, sights, and sounds of autumn. Visit one of Maryland's many famous museums, aquariums, forest preserves, and/or fish hatcheries.
Autumn is the perfect time to enjoy Maryland's many festivals and craft fairs that feature works from local artisans.
Often referred to as "America in Miniature" because of all the things to do here, Maryland during autumn is the place to be.
