Interpretive exhibits focus on heritage area themes; On the Home Front, in the Heat of Battle, and Beyond the Battlefield, and panels feature sites where these themes may be explored. Brochures, Civil War Trails map guides, county visitor guides and other materials are available. Staff can help visitors tailor their plans for exploring Civil War sites in Carroll, Frederick, and Washington counties. Location of center is Newcomer Farm, Antietam National Battlefield, East of Sharpsburg on Route 34 near the Antietam Creek. Hours are May-October 11AM-5PM daily, April & November - First Saturday in December: 11AM-5PM weekends only. There is no admission. Info: 301-432-6402.

Located in beautiful Hagerstown City Park, the Jonathan Hager House is the original home of Jonathan Hager, founder of Hagerstown. Built in 1739, the Hager House was uniquely erected over two springs, and is completely equipped with period furnishings. An adjacent museum contains artifacts found on site. House is located at 110 Key Street, Hagerstown. Admission fee is charged for adults and school-age children, pre-school children are admitted free. Hours are Thursday through Saturday 10AM-4PM, Sunday-Wednesday by appointment only is the house is closed the months of January through March then again during the last week of November through the first Wednesday of December to prepare for Christmas. Kennedy Farm is a national historic landmark, completely restored and furnished. Used during the summer and fall of 1859 by John Brown and his "Provisional Army of the United States" as a staging area for their raid on Harpers Ferry. The Georgian-style Mansion House was built in 1846 of native limestone and brick. The bricks were made from the mud of the lake, now a focal point of Hagerstown's City Park, which the house overlooks. The house is the headquarters for the Valley Art Association. Visitors can view and purchase the works of over twenty local artists. In addition to serving as a gallery, the Mansion House offers art classes. The house is located in Hagerstown's City Park. McMahon's Mill Museum houses a collection of memorabilia reflecting the history, wars, art, technology, antiques, and other items of the American Heritage of the 1800s and 1900s. The museum is a time capsule of the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Weapons, Ceramic Art, Brass Rubbings, Antique record players and a Gatling Gun along with other heritage items. The Miller House is an early nineteenth century brick townhouse with period furnishings. It is the headquarters of the Washington County Historical Society, which has offices and a genealogical and archival library on the lower level. Collections feature the Civil War, local pottery, clocks, dolls and toys, silver, and quilts. Ask to see the museum's antique cars. The house is located at 135 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, and an admission is charged. Highlights period medical innovations and a recreation of a field hospital. Historic barn hosts a variety of events and a small exhibit.
