Barbara Ingram Band and Orchestra Students to Perform Special Mother's Day Concert with Montgomery County Student Musicians

Hagerstown, MD (May 6, 2013) - Band and orchestra students at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts (BISFA) will combine with the Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra {PVYO) of Montgomery County, Maryland, to present a special Mother's Day concert of music for large orchestra. The concert will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at the Maryland Theatre.
Featured on the program will be Overture to Arthur Sullivan's "The Yeoman of the Guard," the "Presto Finale" to Mozart's Symphony #36, Gershwin's "Little Rhapsody in Blue" with pianist Jessan Groenendyk, and Rossini's Overture to "The Italian Girl in Algiers." Also featured at the concert will be Potomac Valley Orchestra's concerto competition winner Marie Hodges performing Beethoven's Violin Sonata in F. BISFA will feature All-State alto saxophonist Hansu Sung in Eugene Bozza's Improvisation and Caprice.
The 90-piece combined orchestra will have performed this concert the previous evening at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville. The conductor for both performances is William Hollin, BISFA's lead instrumental music teacher. Hollin was the music director of PVYO from 1992 to 2004 and again from 2010 to the present.
Hollin says, "It's a thrill to be able to present all of my students in a single concert, playing a single and unified program."
Tickets to the Maryland Theatre concert cost $10 for adults and $5 for students. Pre-school children will be admitted free.
