St Maria Goretti's PAWS Helps Animals in Need

Hagerstown, MD: Students from St. Maria Goretti's PAWS, People for Animal Welfare Society, service club recently collected a large amount of items for the Humane Society of Washington County, Inc. (HSWC). On Thursday June 21, 2012 club president Sarah Ganassa presented the items to the shelter.
Recently graduated, Sarah was very enthusiastic about the PAWS, St. Maria Goretti and her fellow club members. "This was a school wide collection and everyone including the teachers and staff participated," said Sarah. "I'm really glad they had a chance to get together as a community. Goretti is about service and this club helped with service to the community in another way."
Students designed and created posters and handouts promoting the collection of much needed animal related items. Large collection bins were set up in the foyer of the school. The result was a car full of blankets, beds, food, toys, litter and treats for the animals.
"It is obvious the students at St. Maria Goretti really worked hard on this project," said Paul Miller, Executive Director of the HSWC. "I want to thank all of the students, staff and faculty that helped with this collection. It really helped out during our busy 'kitten season'." The PAWS members not pictured are Patrick Gallagher, Fiona Burke, Alexis Barone, Sarah Taylor, Laura Winalski, Monica Divinagracia, Katie D'Addato, Micheal Rosenthal, Emily Noe, Steph Baker, Isabel Divinagracia, Nicole Downing, Kaila Roberts, Kathryn Ippolito, Mary Hackney, Annemarie Koogle, Kristen Downing, and Taylor James. Katie D'Addato will be the club president for the 2012-2013 school years.
