C&O Canal family reunion June 18th in Hancock, MD

Hancock, MD - The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park will host the third Annual Canal Family Reunion on Saturday, June 18th from 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. during the Barge Bash Festival in Hancock, Maryland. If your family history is associated with the C&O Canal or if you would like to hear the stories of others, please join us in recalling life along the old waterway!
Stretching 184.5 miles from the heart of Georgetown in Washington D.C. to the scenic mountain views of Cumberland in Western Maryland, the C&O Canal was the backbone of numerous communities during canal operations. Thousands of immigrants established many of these communities while laboring along the canal. Today, many families living in these communities have stories to share and can trace their ancestors back to the canal.
The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park in partnership with the Hancock Arts Council and the Town of Hancock will be hosting this year's Barge Bash along with the Canal Family Reunion. The Barge Bash will be held from 10am-2pm and feature a parade of Barge Bash floats, followed by the Barge Bash competition where floats are pulled down the canal, as well as live music and vendors.
