In announcing the Board nominations the organization said, "The Association's participation in model code and standard writing organizations is the best opportunity for building safety professionals to exercise their technical knowledge and administrative expertise. The Association expects to have a leadership role, assured by appointments, to technical, code development, and governance committees. Is the intent of the Association to support and facilitate building official, governmental member and voting representative attendance at all code development hearings on code proposals when they support the goals, vision, and mission of the Association."
IABO will advance the principal goals and objectives of all building safety professionals by promoting a more visible and active presence in the community. The Association will provide a forum for code officials to enhance the building and standards development process by evaluating and supporting codes and standards that improve the safety, sustainability and integrity of the buildings and the building process.
