Bicycles and portable sewing machine donations wanted to send to an underdeveloped country!

Collection Date: Saturday, April 30, 9am-noon
Location: Otterbein United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Franklin and Locust Streets, Hagerstown, MD
Otterbein United Methodist Church, Hagerstown is sponsoring its 7th Annual Bicycle Collection in conjunction with Bikes for the World. Hagerstown Rotary Club is also providing assistance in the collection efforts for this year's event. Collecting bicycles and portable sewing machines to send to those in need in an underdeveloped country, this effort also reduces waste in the United States. A bike that you no longer use helps someone in an underdeveloped country get to work or school, and a working, portable sewing machine provides an opportunity for income and self-sufficiency.
Bicycles and sewing machines can be dropped off at the Otterbein United Methodist Church parking lot on Saturday, April 30th from 9am-noon only. A $10 per item donation is appreciated to help defray the cost of shipping and distribution to overseas partners.
Bicycles accepted are mountain bikes (most preferred), one-speed "cruiser" and three-speed bicycles, road/ten-speed bikes, children's bikes, tandems, recumbents, unicycles, folding bikes, and mopeds (in working condition). Also accepted are spare bike parts, accessories, books and manuals, and tools suitable for working on bikes such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.
All bicycles received should be in repairable condition and generally rust free. Sewing machines must be portable and in working condition - no cabinets or furniture. A receipt will be provided for all material and cash donations.
