Pennies for pets

Hagerstown, MD: On Friday February 18, 2011 Jordan Row, President of the Student Council at Rockland Woods Elementary School, and members of the Student Council presented the Humane Society of Washington County's (HSWC) Executive Director Paul Miller with a donation of $560.00. That money was the proceeds from the Pennies for Pets Fundraiser they held for the shelter.
School Principal Kathy Stiles smiled with pride as she talked about the project. "They worked very hard to collect 100 pennies for the 100th day of school. The result was this tremendous donation for the shelter," said Stiles. "Everyone is very pleased with the result of their hard work. They did such a great job."
Paul Miller was also very impressed. "This was a very generous donation and it is obvious the students worked very hard to raise this money," said Miller. "What a terrific illustration of the compassion the student body has for animals." Students Paige Kolb and Destiny Cromwell assisted President Row in explaining the project and other Student Council Members joined in a lively discussion about the shelter and animals.
