It's Only Ink!: A Story of Russian Adoption
It's Only Ink!
A Story of Russian Adoption
Specific types of books for children can sometimes be difficult to find. When the author, Adrienne Ehlert Bashista and her husband decided to adopt from Russia, she had trouble locating a children's book that described adopting from Russia. The author wanted to read a book to their son, Jacob, to help him understand and prepare. Giving up trying to find such a book, Bashista decided to write her own book on the subject. Her book has thus become one of the first children's picture books to record the tale of a child being adopted from Russia.
In "When I Met You", the author describes a child's life before and after the adoption from scenes of days lying in a row of cribs in one country to living with a new mom and dad in another country.
Soft watercolor illustrations, by Christine Sykes, beautifully enhance Bashista's sweet, heartwarming family experience.
This book comes highly recommended.
