Gaming fund disbursement to Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association announced

The Washington County Gaming Commission has announced the January 2011, distribution to the Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association in the amount of $414,398.08
Gaming Office Director Jim Hovis reports the sum distributed reflects a decrease of $30,141.00 or 6.8% when compared to the January 2010, distribution of $444,539.08.
At the close of business on December 31, 2010, the Gaming Office had collected $828,796.16 to the credit of the Washington County Gaming Fund. In accordance with State Statute, fifty percent (50%) of the funds collected between July 1st and December 31st of each year must be disbursed to the Association. The Association then receives another distribution in August of each year in conjunction with the annual disbursements to charitable organizations.
The Washington County Gaming Fund is funded in full by the collection of a percentage of the gross profit of each tip jar sold in Washington County. According to State Statute, for-profit businesses must submit 50% of the gross profits, and non-profit organizations must submit 15% of the gross profits to the credit of the fund. Fire and rescue companies and charitable organizations do not contribute to the fund.
