County offers GIS services

The Washington County Government web site is now offering several interactive maps, designed and maintained by the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Office, part of the Information Technologies Department.
Three maps are available including a general map showing addresses and zoning, a map showing the location of survey control monuments, and a map designed for use in combination with the Economic Development Commission web site. Each map has interactive tools to pan, zoom, turn layers on and off, and identify features. Some layers turn on or off depending on how far you zoom in. Searches can be performed to locate an address or a survey monument.
The maps were previewed at a meeting of the Washington County Community GIS Committee on Wednesday, December 8th. Members include local agencies at all levels of government and members of the local surveying and engineering community.
The maps can be accessed from the main page of the Washington County Government web site.
Following the link will bring you to a legal disclaimer page. Scroll down and accept the terms of the disclaimer, which brings you to a page to choose one of the three maps. The initial loading of the map will take a few moments.
Questions about the maps can be directed to the GIS Office, Bud Gudmundson, GIS Manager at 240-313-2277 or Sarah Kozal, GIS Database Administrator at 240-313-2278.
