The 2nd Annual Greene Turtle golf tournament raised over $5,000.00 in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County. The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille, located in Hagerstown, sponsored the tournament which was held at Black Rock Golf Course on Monday, October 4th.
"I want to thank all of our golfers and sponsors who made the tournament a success," said Matt Bjerklie, general manager of the sports themed restaurant located on Shank Farm Way across from the Longmeadow Shopping Plaza. "The playing conditions were rough with the rain, wind, and low temperatures. We are very pleased to have raised over $5,000.00 for the Boys & Girls Club," he added.
The Boys & Girls Club serves children between the ages of six and 18 at seven locations across Washington County. Boys & Girls Club programs include homework assistance, social skill instruction, sports, fitness, life skills, and arts.
"We are very fortunate to have partners like the Greene Turtle who are willing to get involved in our community and use their time, talents, and treasure to help our youth," said Jim Deaner, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club.
The golf tournament featured the opportunity for golfers to win a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle for a hole-in one on Black Rock's par 3 seventh hole. While no golfers were fortunate enough to take home the motorcycle, they were lucky enough to win door prizes, which included a three day/two night golf outing to Myrtle Beach, golf bags, and other merchandise.
